FAQs

Private boating membership

Clear answers. No fine print.

Joining a members’ club works best when expectations are clear from the start.
Below you’ll find straightforward answers to the questions we’re asked most often, grouped by topic so you can quickly find what matters to you.

If anything isn’t covered, our team is always happy to talk things through.

About RIB Club

Is RIB Club a rental company?

No. RIB Club is a members-only boat club. We do not offer public or day rentals, and member access always comes first.

What does “alternative to ownership” mean?

It means you enjoy the benefits of owning a boat — access, familiarity, and freedom — without the cost, admin, or long-term commitment that ownership requires.

Who is RIB Club designed for?

RIB Club is designed for people who value reliability, fairness, and quality. Many of our members are second-home owners, resident expats, families, and experienced boaters who want boating to feel simple and well managed.

Using the Boats

How often can I use the boats?

Members typically go out 10–15 times per year, though some use the boats more and some less. There’s no fixed usage cap — access is managed through fair booking rules rather than hard limits.

What does “unlimited access” actually mean?

You can boat as often as suits your lifestyle, within a booking system designed to protect availability for all members. This ensures fair access, especially during busy periods.

Can I go out for short trips?

Yes. Members can use the boats for anything from a quick couple of hours to a full day, from sunrise to sunset.

Bookings & Fair Use

How does booking work?

Bookings are managed through the members app. From 2026, members can hold two planned booking days at any time, giving greater flexibility to plan ahead.

Why are there booking rules?

Booking rules exist to ensure fairness and availability for everyone. They prevent overuse by a small number of members and help keep the club running smoothly.

Standards & Responsibilities

Am I responsible for the boat?

Members are expected to treat boats with care and respect. Clear check-in and check-out processes help protect both members and the club.

Can membership be revoked?

Yes. Behaviour that puts people, boats, or the club at risk — including unsafe boating, drugs, or excessive alcohol use — is not tolerated.

Families & Experience

Is the club suitable for families?

Yes. Many members are families, and safety and ease of use are core to how the club operates.

Do I need experience to join?

Many members are experienced boaters, but experience isn’t essential. Training and licensing are available through RIB Club for those who need it.

"The value is incredible. When you factor in maintenance, insurance, and storage costs, the membership pays for itself. Plus, the boats are newer and better than anything I could afford to buy."
